You may think cycling 1300 miles might be a tough challenge, but Sam faces one of her biggest yet – DECHOX! What is Dechox? Dechox is a nationwide challenge, set by one of Sam’s four chosen charities, The British Heart Foundation. The challenge is to give up chocolate throughout February. From a chocolate dusting on a cappuccino to sprinkles on your sherry trifle; anything with cocoa in it is off limits – especially those chocolate biscuits for elevenses! While the British Heart Foundation has come up with some handy hints and tips to survive Dechox, we’re hoping Sam’s other challenges will help to keep her mind off chocolate. Commenting on the challenge, Sam says… “This is a tough one, especially as I still have some tasty treats left over from Christmas! I’ll be locking all the chocolate away and saving it until the 1st March to enjoy! I’m still cycling and […]
Mansfield is preparing to welcome cyclists taking part in stage seven of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain, starting in West Bridgford and finishing on Chesterfield Road. It is one of many cycling events taking place in September that will hopefully encourage more people to get in to cycling to improve their health and fitness. The “Let’s Ride Nottingham” festival is also taking place in Nottingham a week later, on Saturday 16th September. This fun, free, family orientated cycle festival is being sponsored by HSBC and will see certain roads in Nottingham closed to motorists to enable cyclists to complete a 5k route. With all these inspiring events going on, Sam herself has been encouraged to push on and complete more cycling challenges to help raise awareness of cycle road safety. She hopes that by adding some miles to her cycling tally, she will take another huge step towards completing […]
For Team Pella’s Afternoon Tea Week celebrations Sam set herself the goal of baking some delicious scones, as one of her 40 challenges. She also made up some cucumber sandwiches as no afternoon tea would be complete without them. Sam started by baking the scones at home before bringing them into work. The kitchen did get a bit messy! Here you can see Stacey, Luna and Sam enjoying their scones. We can promise you the rest of the team enjoyed them too. Well done Sam! Speaking about the experience Sam said “So I finally started baking as part of my 40 challenges… (That’s if 40+ scones count for Afternoon Tea). I loved it and can’t wait to get on to the real cakes now. Team seemed pretty impressed with my efforts; the empty tin says it all. Looks like we will be having a cake sale sometime soon.” Don’t forget […]
